A 24-year-old man has been arrested following a disturbing assault that left a young child seriously injured at Espada Park in San Antonio.
According to the San Antonio Police Department, the incident occurred around 2:51 p.m. on April 18, 2026. Authorities say a 27-year-old woman was walking with a 3-year-old child when the suspect allegedly approached and pulled the woman by her hair, causing her to fall and drop the child.
Police report that the suspect then began physically assaulting the child, resulting in serious bodily injuries. A bystander who witnessed the attack intervened and was able to restrain the man until officers arrived at the scene.
Both the woman and the child were evaluated for injuries. The child sustained serious harm, while the extent of the woman’s injuries has not been fully detailed.
The suspect has been taken into custody and is facing charges including aggravated assault and assault causing bodily injury. Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
