The New York community is mourning the tragic loss of Jaden Pierre, a 15-year-old boy who was fatally shot at a park in Queens.
According to the New York Police Department, the shooting occurred on Thursday at approximately 6 p.m. near Roy Wilkins Park. Officers responded to reports of gunfire and found Jaden suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest.
He was transported to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center in critical condition, where he was later pronounced dead.
Authorities have indicated that the incident may have followed a dispute on a basketball court that escalated before shots were fired. The NYPD has since released images of a suspect and is asking for the public’s assistance in identifying the individual involved.
