A 16-year-old driver has been arrested following a downtown crash that left a bike patrol officer injured in San Antonio on Friday night.
According to the San Antonio Police Department, the incident began around 9:39 p.m. near East Commerce and Navarro when officers on bike patrol attempted to stop a vehicle for traffic violations. The driver failed to comply and sped away, during which one officer fell and sustained minor injuries.
Police say the vehicle continued through downtown and ran a red light at North Flores and Pecan, where it collided with two other vehicles—a Chevy Blazer and a Toyota—bringing the pursuit to an end.
The teenage driver then fled on foot but was apprehended a short time later by responding officers.
The injured officer was treated for minor injuries, and no further serious injuries have been reported. Authorities continue to investigate the incident.
