Authorities have launched an investigation following a deadly suspected drive-by shooting that claimed the lives of two men in Chatsworth, KwaZulu-Natal.
According to the South African Police Service, the incident occurred on the M1 Higginson Highway near the RK Khan off-ramp on the night of April 18, 2026. Emergency services were dispatched to the scene at approximately 9:30 p.m.
Upon arrival, responders discovered two men inside a stationary vehicle, both suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Paramedics assessed the victims but found no signs of life, and both were pronounced dead at the scene.
Preliminary information suggests the victims had been traveling in the vehicle when another car approached. Occupants of the second vehicle allegedly opened fire before fleeing the area.
Police had already secured the scene when medical personnel arrived, and the area was cordoned off for further investigation. At this stage, the circumstances leading up to the shooting remain unclear, and no suspects have been publicly identified.
The investigation is ongoing as authorities work to determine the motive and identify those responsible for the attack.
