A 19-year-old male was critically injured in a shooting on April 17, 2026, in the 13200 block of South Prairie Avenue in Chicago.
According to preliminary information, the victim was standing on the sidewalk at approximately 3:59 p.m. when an unknown vehicle pulled up alongside him. An unidentified offender inside the vehicle then produced a firearm and opened fire, striking the victim in the face.
The victim was transported to the University of Chicago Hospital in critical condition. His current status has not been publicly updated.
The suspects fled the scene, and no one is currently in custody. Area Two Detectives are actively investigating the incident, which falls under the city’s 5th District.
